Samoyed Rescue
If you’re looking for a Florida-based Samoyed rescue organization, I’m sorry to say that there isn’t one. However, because I am a hopeless sucker for dogs in need, I run a one-woman rehoming operation out of my house in Central Florida. Because it is just me, I am extremely limited in resources and space so I cannot promise to take every dog, but I can promise to do my best to help everyone who contacts me even if I cannot physically take the dog.
I have successfully homed or helped with the rehoming of about a dozen dogs over the past few years. I work with a large network of fellow Samoyed enthusiasts, breeders, and dog professionals. I’m just one gal but I am one well-connected gal. I generally take in one dog at a time, take a few weeks to get them vet checked and get to know them, and then place them with a well vetted home that I feel is a good match for the dog. If the dog is found to be from a reputable breeder, they will be contacted and the dog will be returned to them as outlined in their contract if that is what they wish. All dogs leave my possession fixed, microchipped, up to date on vet care, and with a signed adoption contract.
I ask all potential adopters to agree to a three-week foster-to-adopt trial where they agree to keep the dog for three weeks (barring emergent circumstances) to really get to know them. At the end of the three weeks, we meet up and discuss how it went, and if they would like to adopt the dog. Adoption fees vary, I only charge to reimburse myself for money spent on a dog’s vet care.
FAQ
I am not able to accept monetary donations since I am not a non-profit, but if you would like to gift a pup some food or a chew toy to take home with them, you can find their Amazon Wishlist here.
If you would like to volunteer as a foster, transporter, trainer, or anything else; please fill out my google form here and note that you would like to foster or help out in some way.
If you are interested in any potential future dogs, please fill out this google form here. This is not a formal waiting queue and dogs are not first-come first-serve, I match dogs and families based on the questions covered in my adoption form.
Adopted dogs come fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Adoption fees vary, I do not have a set fee- I charge based on what I personally spent on the dog’s care and I only charge to reimburse myself for medical expenses.
If you need help with or would like to surrender your dog, the quickest way to get in contact with me is to message me on Facebook. I cannot promise to take in every dog because I have my own limitations, but at minimum I will be able to connect you with resources to help.
Surrendered dogs must be turned over with a copy of their vet history and any registration (AKC, etc) paperwork pertaining to them.
Yes. I do not care if you adopted them from me 10 years ago, and I don’t care if you’re sending them back because they looked at you funny. I will always take any dog back or do my best to help solve problems with adopted dogs in any way that I can.
Formally, no. But I am a volunteer for Mid-Atlantic Samoyed Rescue, the last remaining active Samoyed rescue on the East Coast. They’re more official than I am, but they’re still just two women trying their best to help all of the dogs. We help each other when we can.
